Developing Employee Job Performance Reviews:
A Facilitated In-House Activity
What Is a Job Performance Review
Developing a legal, job-related performance review for a job classification or a job family is a sound and necessary management practice. An employee is more likely to perform his or her work responsibly, correctly, and with less direct supervision when clear performance expectations exist.
Outcomes to work towards:
·   A legal, job related performance review for one or more job classifications
·   A collaborative, facilitated process that involves the consultant, employee and/or his/her supervisor or manager
·   Clear and specific job performance expectations that anybody can understand for any job classification
·   Dramatically improved clarity and agreement between an employee and the supervisor about credible job performance
·   Supervisors and staff who are more comfortable and  productive during a performance review meeting

Performance Review Tools Covered:
·   Using a framework for a legal performance-related job performance review
·   Classifying an employee's key responsibility areas
·   Distinguishing among routine, troubleshooting and project tasks
·   Using a formula for writing clear and concise job performance expectations
·   Using a Behavioral Observation Scale for reviewing an employee's job performance
·   Establishing standards of acceptable and unacceptable job performance
·   Conducting a professional and productive performance review meeting for good news and bad news
